| Subject: Chance of Solar Flares This Week Fri Jan 11, 2013 10:06 pm | |
| Even with a large number of sunspots lately the sun has been relatively quiet. It looks as if that could change over the next several days. We have an active sunspot turning our direction and the activity in it is increasing. I hope to get a large enough flare for us to get some auroras. Only time will tell. http://www.spaceweather.com/ - Quote :

AR1654 is getting bigger as it turns toward Earth: movie. Not only is the chance of flares increasing, but also the chance of an Earth-directed eruption. This could be the sunspot that breaks the recent lengthy spell of calm space weather around our planet. Solar flare alerts: text, voice.
