Tribute to first KIA in Afghanistan.

Eight years ago today the U/S lost it's first Marine in the War on Terrorism. Cpl Payne was a hell of a Marine and was well liked around the battalion. I did not now him personally but knew many of the men in his platoon. A good friend of mine was on the patrol when he lost his life. I also know and worked with SSGT Thompson for some time towards the end of my service. This one hit close to home for many of us and showed us just how serious this war was. May he never be forgotten.

Had never heard of but WILL remember Cpl Payne , your friend (am so sorry for your loss) and all the many others...

My prayers for all the families who have lost their loved ones. I can only imagine losing a close friend in this manner . May God help , continual comfort and give us peace and courage.
