Under Campfield’s bill, families could have lost up to 30 percent of welfare benefits from the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program if a child did not attend school regularly and make “satisfactory academic progress.”

(If that had been an adult following him around, he would have been charged on stalking or harassment , eh?)

I truly think the bill was ridiculous - He may even try to push for it next year though ..IMO, this is NOT the solution.

Does the guy not realize that there are divorced , single parents who are struggling with finances, etc. that may have to work a night, who are unable to attend the school meetings, etc? Having to choose from losing a days wages or lose their food? I don't think he thought this through completely.

Also some children may not be as intelligent as others . Does he not know how this would affect the child putting a heavy burden upon him or her if they didn't make the grade even though they did their very best?!!
And then to punish them by this cutting of funding.... He is one loony toon that needs to go!
I understand there are SOME dead beat parents in this world etc, but in the end , this bill of cutting their funds, isn't going to make ANYone a better parent. It would be taking from and hurting the children!
